Stephen Schmidt

Stephen John Schmidt, 53 of Erie, died Monday, November 11, 2013. He was born on January 12, 1960 in Erie where he lived his entire life. Steve was a 1978 McDowell High School graduate and a 1982 graduate of the Penn State University at Behrend where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science.

He was employed at Scobell Plumbing. Steve was an avid Minnesota Viking fan along with being a NASCAR racing fan. He enjoyed reading his Wall Street Journals, many books, open discussions about politics and enjoyed nature. He loved animals, his family and many, many friends. Steve would always be available to lend a helping hand, offer encouragement or make a very funny comment and would always and continuously make the people around him smile and feel special. He lived his life with kind words and thoughtfulness which will be forever missed. Steve was preceded in death by his parents, John and Sally Schmidt who surely are thrilled to be back with their beloved son. Steve is survived by his brother, David Schmidt and his wife Mary of Fairview, a sister, Julie Schmidt-Iddings and her husband Rob of Erie along with two nephews, Andrew Schmidt and his wife Amy, John Schmidt, one niece, Kelly Schmidt Gromacki and her husband, Tom in addition to his Aunt Christie D’Aurora and cousin Chuck Mountain. Private services will be handled by Burton Funeral Homes and Crematory, Inc. 602 West 10th Street, Erie, PA 16502.
