Stanley Romba

January 2, 1930 — April 20, 2015

Stanley Romba age 85, of Millcreek, passed away on Monday, April 20, 2015 at UPMC Hamot following an extended illness.

He was born on January 2, 1930 in McKean, Pa, a son of the late Frank and Julia Zaleski Romba.

After graduating from McKean High School, he served in the United States Army during the Korean War earning the rank of Staff Sergeant. He worked as a long distance truck driver for Hammermill Paper Company until his retirement in 1991. During his time there, he earned from the National Safety Council the Million Mile Club Award for outstanding performance in driving 1,000,000 miles or 25,000 hours without a preventable accident.

He was a lifelong member of the American Legion #285 in Waterford, PA, Elks Lodge #67, the Zukor Club and the VFW #470.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Jenny Romba and Mary Cyparski and five brothers, Joseph, Theodore, Steve, Zigmond, and Leo Romba.

He will be deeply missed by his devoted wife, Joan Seib Romba, whom he married on February 4, 1956 in Erie; son Michael and his wife Nancy of Waterford, son Daniel and his wife Kathie of McKean, son Douglas and his wife Anne of Waterford, daughter Deborah Lindsay and her husband Greg of Tega Cay, SC, son Matthew of Millcreek, son Jamie and his wife Lisa of Millcreek; eleven grandchildren, Nicholas, Abigail, Nicole, Christopher, Ryan, Adam, Mark, Lauren, Courtney, Samantha, Gianna,; five great grandchildren, Logan, Eleonore, Emma, Ava, Austin; three siblings, Raymond Romba, Berdina Jaskiewicz and Frank Romba; and many nieces and nephews. He will be especially missed by his best friends, his dog Cody.

Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home 3801 W. 26th Street (at Powell Ave) on Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. and are invited to attend a prayer service there on Friday at 9:15 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady Of Peace Church 2408 W. 38th Street, Erie, PA 16506 at 10:00 a.m. Burial to follow in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery in McKean.
