Silas Moffett

Silas "Bug" Moffett, Jr., age 70, of Erie, passed away on June 7, 2013 at his residence.

He was born on October 1, 1942 in Erie, PA son of the late Silas and Anna Jane Ross Moffett.

Silas was employed at Erie Malleable Iron and enjoyed going to the JFK Center. He loved doing crafts and was a volunteer for many organizations. He had recently won an award for Volunteer of the Year.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by four brothers Robert, Julius (J.C.), Edward, and Chester Lee Moffett and two sisters, Anna Mae Avery and Pauline Hinton.

Survivors include one brother Joe Smith of Erie, three sisters Etherine McDonald of Laurel, MS; Helen Moffett of Erie, PA and Ava Moffett of Rochester, NY. Many nieces and nephews also survive.

Friends are invited to call at Burton Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 602 West 10th Street Erie, PA 16502 on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm and may attend a service there on Friday at 4 p.m. with Reverend Ratcliff officiating.
