Shirley Wurst

Shirley E. Koch Wurst, age 93, of Erie died on Monday February 9, 2015 at Elmwood Gardens surrounded by her family. She was born on April 5, 1921 in Erie to the late William J. and Edna Scholl Koch. Shirley graduated from Millcreek High School, class of 1938. She was an Avon representative for 35 years reaching the level of President's Club and was a member of Mount Calvary Church and their Double Nickels Group. Shirley devoted her life to taking care of her son, Glenn. She loved to go shopping and garage sales, especially with her friend Dot Hitchcock who recently passed away. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Glenn R. Wurst Sr. (02/04/1999); brother, William P. Koch; granddaughter, Charity Huff; great-grandsons, Cole and Collin Burton. Shirley is survived by her sons, Glenn R. Wurst Jr. of Erie, David M. Wurst of Las Vegas, NV, John W. Wurst and wife Dottie of Waterford; daughter, Mary Huff and husband Ron of Erie; grand-daughters, Christine Keough-Huff and wife Karen of Belchertown, MA, Jennifer Huff of Erie, Susan DiLoreto of Tampa, FL, Barbara Kulisek and husband Robert of Erie, Brenda Wurst of Erie, Kimberlie Ridings and husband James of McKean, PA, Dawne Burton and husband Richard of Corry, PA; grandsons, Joseph Wurst and wife Vicki of Erie, Ronald Huff and wife Cami of Marienville, PA, John Huff and wife Susan of North East, PA, Thomas Huff and wife Meren of Toledo, OH, James Huff and wife Olga of Las Vegas, NV, Thong Vuong and wife Trisha of Rockford, IL, Jim Fouch of Erie; great-grandchildren, Megan and Jacob Huff, Hayden and Hunter Huff, Yolana, Wyatt, and Yesenia Huff, EJ Graffius, Dashawn Selby-Huff and partner Brittany, Elijah and David Green, Brittany and Jennifer Carbaugh, Helena and Chayton Vuong, Hannah Huff, Katie, Leah, and Emma Irvin, Kellie and Emma Kulisek, John Knight, Halo and Lincoln Wurst, Justin Ridings, and Hunter Burton; great-great-grandson, Dashawn Selby-Huff Jr.; many nieces and nephews; further survived by David Radcliff who was like a son to her and a special friend Sister Andre' Feulner. The family wishes to thank the staff at Elmwood Gardens for their extraordinary care during mom's illness, especially these past few weeks. Friends may call at the Scott Funeral Home 2104 Myrtle St., Erie, PA on Friday 2-4 and 7-9 and are invited to attend a funeral service on Saturday at 11:00 am at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, 1603 West 32nd St. Erie, PA. Officiating the Rev. J. Kenneth Laber. Private interment Erie Cemetery.
