Shirley A. Lyle (Yazvac) age 87, of Millcreek, passed away on Sunday, January 15, 2023 at St. Mary’s Asbury Ridge.
She was born in Farrell, PA on June 25, 1935 a daughter of the late Thomas Yazvac and Kathryn Dolosky.
Shirley graduated from Farrell High School where she was active in cheerleading, serving as captain of the team. Upon graduation, Shirley moved to Erie to attend St. Vincent School of Nursing. After graduating, she embarked on a fulfilling career as a Registered Nurse. She began at St. Vincent as an ER nurse and then an operating room nurse. After moving to Metro Health Center she ultimately became the Operating Room Supervisor where she excelled. She loved her work and always wanted the best for the patients and her team. She was a member of the Nursing Association with many of her fellow St. Vincent graduates.
Shortly after getting married, she and Paul moved their family onto Forest Drive. Here, they bonded with like-minded parents all of whom packed up coolers and kids and walked across the street to the beach where they spent the weekends. This group co-hosted frequent dinner parties and supported each other through good times and bad. Truly incredible friends.
Shirley made every holiday special with beautiful table settings, special décor, delicious food and a great cocktail. She was an amazing, loving “Nana” to all including her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Shirley was an excellent cook, baker and gardener. She enjoyed playing tennis and enjoyed crafting and doing ceramics.
Shirley was a longtime member of St. Julia Church and after retirement was very active with the Rosary Society. A group of women she truly treasured.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Paul F. Lyle; daughter, Lynne A. Lyle Johnson and a granddaughter, Lauren.
