Shirley Komar

Shirley Opalenik Witosky Komar, age 77 of Erie, passed away on Saturday September 27, 2014 surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on August 2, 1937 to George and Gina DiLoreto Opalenik.

Shirley attended Strong Vincent High School, worked at the Shrine Club for more than 20 years, and also catered.

She loved baseball and football, and was an avid Cleveland Indians and Browns fan.

Shirley cherished her children, and her life revolved around them.

Her favorite hobbies were cooking and gardening.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, her stepfather Ben Spinek, and sister Linda Sickafus.

She is survived by her four loving children, James Witosky and wife Roxane, Sandy Witosky, Deb (Witosky) Clemente and husband Jim, and Victoria (Komar) Wright and husband Jeff; six grandchildren: Joe Witosky, Jake Witosky and wife Heather, Brandy Witosky and fiancé Rich, Anthony Clemente, Brandon and Sophia Wright; three great grandchildren: Tyler Witosky, Penny Witosky, and Benjamin Witosky; three sisters: Eleanor Niemynski, Bonnie Weston and Tom Bernsten, and Georgeanne Wagner and husband Lysle. Her best friend of over 40 years, Barb Black, and many nephews, nieces, cousins and aunts also survive.

Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home, 3801 West 26th Street (at Powell Ave.) on Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. until the time of service at 8 p.m.
