Shirley Virginia Ferguson Fuller, age 84 of Erie, passed away on Monday, September 11, 2017 at Pleasant Ridge Manor.
Shirley was born in Washington, PA on December 17th, 1932 the daughter of the late Licncoln (McConnell) and Rev. Dr. Cuyler Neil Ferguson.
She graduated from #66 grade school and Bennett High School in Buffalo, NY and attended Muskingum College in Newcorcord, OH, Keuka College in Penn Yan, NY and graduated from Bryant and Stratton College in Buffalo, NY.
Shirley was a member of Church of the Cross where she was active for many years. She participated in the church choir, the nursery, being a bridal planner, assisted in funeral luncheons and was a Deacon and Parish Shepard for many years. She used to enjoy bowling, walking, many a garage sale, and people in general. She worked as a secretary and later transitioned to childcare, which she enjoyed for many years. She lived life to the fullest; her children, grandchild and great-grandchildren were her favorite topic of conversation. She will be remembered for her generosity and kind heart as she wanted to touch the lives of all she met. Shirley also belonged for many years to Koinonia and loved being part of the group in all aspects.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother Rev. Richard Ferguson who passed away in 2005.
She is survived by her daughter, Debra Kurtz (husband Randy Kurtz); son Steven Fuller; daughter Alison Davis; grandchildren, Kyle Kurtz, Maren Fox (Jay), Shaun Fuller (Bryanne), Justine Marlette (Ryan), Jason Fuller (Darcie), Caitlin Davis and six great grandchildren, Jayden, Austin, Alessandro, Wesley, Alyssa and Lincoln; also Carole Brown, whom she loved as a daughter. Justine, Shaun, Jason and Caitlin; and six great grandchildren, Jayden, Austin, Alyssa, Wesley, Allesandro, and Lincoln.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of the wonderful people at Pleasant Ridge Manor who cared so lovingly for Shirley these past few years; they really made a difference in her life.
Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home 3801 West 26h Street (at Powell Avenue) Erie, PA 16506 on Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. and on Saturday at Church of the Cross 5901 Millfair Rd, Fairview, PA 16415 from 10:30 a.m until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Jim McCormack officiating.
Burial will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
