Shirley Discher

Shirley Mae Discher age 85, of Erie, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 6, 2017 at St. Mary’s East, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Meadville, PA on December 21, 1931, a daughter of the late Gerald and Harriet Servey Morris.

Shirley attended Meadville High School and went on to work as a Quality Control Inspector at Johnson Controls, Inc.  She retired from Johnson Controls, Inc. in 1995.

She enjoyed dancing, playing cards, crossword puzzles, was an accomplished roller skater and especially enjoyed spending time with her family. Christmas was her favorite holiday and she made it special for her family every year.

 In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Yoho McMichael and Nancy Rigdon; an infant brother, Gerald James Morris Jr.; a niece April; and a son in law, Daniel Gardner.

Shirley is survived by 5 children; Daniel Discher (Elizabeth) of North East, PA, Patricia Swaney, Valerie Gardner, Deborah Niebling (Bill Pfister), and Diane Segal (Brian) all of Erie; 11 grandchildren, Donna, Richard, Gregory, Joshua, Brianna, Shauna, Keith, William, Jennifer, Logan and Dylan; 10 great grandchildren; a sister, Delores Bowersox; and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at St. Mary’s East for the love and care they provided to Shirley especially, Slava, Denae, and Brenda.

Services and burial were held private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements were entrusted to the Burton Wintergreen Funeral Home 2532 Norcross Rd.Erie, PA 16510.
