Shirley Clark

March 21, 1923 — July 15, 2014

Shirley Conrad Clark, age 91, of Erie, passed away on Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at Manchester Commons.

Born in Erie, on March 21, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Agnes Nicholson Conrad. Shirley graduated from Millcreek High School, was a member of Lakewood United Methodist Church for over fifty years and was a member of Koinonia of Erie County.

During her long career as a secretary, she worked for many local businesses including Erie Ceramic Arts for 12 years and at Horne’s Department Store (Lazarus) as a Sales Associate.

Shirley was a consummate shopper and also enjoyed line dancing and exercising.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Earl “Joe” Clark in 1998, her brother Robert Conrad, and a niece, Jackie Conrad.

She is survived by a son Alan Clark and his wife Charlotte, of Millcreek; three grandchildren, Paul Clark, Janet Pomper, and James (Betty) Clark; four great grandchildren, Aja, Sabian, Hunter and Logan.

Shirley’s family would like to thank the caregivers at Manchester Commons for their compassion and care during her many years of residence there.

Friends may call at the Burton West Lake Funeral Home, 3801 W. 26th Street (at Powell Ave) on Thursday, from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. and are invited to a service there on Friday at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Bob Lewis, of Lakewood United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be private for the family in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
