Shirley R. Brown

Shirley R. Wurst Brown, age 82, of Erie, passed away on Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at UPMC Hamot.

She was born in Erie, PA on July 14, 1941, a daughter of the late Edward and Ruth Otteni Wurst.

Shirley graduated from Academy High School Class of 1959.

She co-owned and operated Brown Brothers Golden Dawn along with her husband. She worked in the Clerical Department at Edward Jones after retiring from her business. She enjoyed cooking, making cards, doing ceramics, raising plants, and feeding the deer and other animals at her place in Tidioute. She was a member of Luther Memorial Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James R. Brown on July 15, 2022 and a brother, George Wurst.

Shirley is survived by two sons, Norm (Lisa) Brown, of Fairview, PA, and Jim (Paula) Brown of Millcreek, one granddaughter, Becky Brown of Fresno, Calif., three grandsons, James Robert (Elizabeth) Brown of Erie, Matthew James  (Jennifer) Brown of Jeffersonville, IN, Zachary Stephen Brown of Fairview, PA, Jennifer Villa and Jose Davila who Shirley recognized as her adopted children, three brothers, Edward (Shelly Swan) Wurst, Richard (Rochelle) Wurst and Ronald (Elizabeth Hall) Wurst, three sisters, Jean Wurst, Paula (Greg) Brocious and Carol (Tony Wieczorek) Kopac, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at Burton Quinn Scott Cremation and Funeral Services, West Ridge, 3801 West 26^th Street, on Sunday September 10^th, 2023 from 1 pm until the time of service there at 4 p.m. with Reverend Jeff Ewing of First Lutheran Church of Warren, PA officiating.

Inurnment will be Private.
