Sandra K Sandi Drew Williams age 71, of Erie, passed away at UPMC Hamot Hospital on Tuesday January 10, 2017. Sandi was born in Erie PA on July 12, 1945 a daughter of the late Milton A. and Edna Moultrie Drew. Sandi was a graduate of Strong Vincent High School and later attended evening classes at Tech Memorial High School. Sandi worked at Hamot Hospital as a EKG Technician for many years. Sandi also worked at the Gertrude A. Barber Center as a Secretary in Residential Services, Training Department, Health Services and Receptionist, she was considered a counselor to many and mother figure to most for over 30 years, retiring in January 2011.
During her life Sandi was an active member of Henderson United Methodist Church, she loved scrapbooking, sewing, reading, traveling and bowling for many years with her beloved husband Carl, to whom she was married for over 50 years. Sandi was full of life, loving, caring, kind hearted and a virtuous woman. Sandi's husband and family meant the world to her and it showed in her kindness to them as well as to others. She was very humble and loving, willing to give when and where she could. She loved to get together with her friends and family for a good time or bad and was always willing to go when she was able. Sandi traveled to many states in the United States with her husband. When he ran marathons, she was his sidekick and #1 cheerleader through thick and thin. Sandi endured so much but she never gave up or gave in. She had a heart of Gold. Sandi is gone from this earth but she will NEVER be gone from our hearts. Sandi was Carl's Queen and was our own angel here on earth; she has now earned her Heavenly crown and wings, and will watch over us as she always did in life.
In addition to her parents Sandi was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Emma Kurelowech and by four brothers, John M. Drew, DeVere G. Drew, Ronald R. Drew and Gerald Drew and two sisters Helen R. Drew and Nancy F. Drew.
Sandi leaves to cherish her memory her husband Carl R. Williams three children Carla Kurelowech (Darin), Cheryl Williams-Witherspoon, Christopher Williams (Amy) all of Erie, seven grandchildren, Jonathan Atkinson, her Princess Sydney Williams, Michael, Matthew, Joseph, Daniel and Lucas Kurelowech and her little Prince Chandler Williams, six siblings, Marianne Chenault of Beaufort, SC, Asa Drew (Diane) of El Cerrito, CA, Jeanne Effinger of Beaufort, SC, Barry Drew (Marcia) of Mechanicsburg, PA, Cynthia Drew and Valerie Brewer both of Erie, brothers and sisters-in-law, Frances Moyer, Willie Williams (Inez) of Erie, Dora Goins of Oxon Hill, MD, Dorothy Johnson of Luray, VA, Catherine Drew, Viola Pearson both of Erie, Peggy Brooks (Willie) of Luray, VA, Helen Stapp (James), Betty Williams and Barbara Drew all of Erie and many nieces nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews and a host of friends also remain.
Friends may call at Burton Funeral Home and Crematory Inc, 602 West 10th Street, Erie, PA 16502 on Sunday from 2:00 pm till 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm till 8:00 pm and are invited to services at Trinity United Methodist Church , 3952 Pine Ave, Erie, PA 16504 on Monday at 11:00 am with Pastor Mary Stewart officiating. Burial at Lakeside Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Parkinson's Partners, PO Box 10547, Erie, PA 16547 or to the Barber National Institute 100 Barber Place, Erie, PA 16507.
