Sandra Maries

In the presence of family and surrounded by love, Sandra Maries age 85, of Erie, passed away on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at her home.

She was born in Jersey City, NJ on July 6, 1935, a daughter of the late Alexander and Kathleen Hunt Marthinsen.

Sandra graduated from Villa Maria Academy and went on to work at Prudential for many years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Maries; beloved son, David, two brothers, Charles and Robert Marthinsen and several nieces and nephews.

She is survived by a daughter, Kathy Bierley and her husband Patrick; a son, Thomas Maries all of Erie; a brother, Alan Marthinsen, Upper St. Clair; daughter in law, Brenda Maries of Missoula, MT; grandchildren, Ryan Maries of Denver, CO, Brian Maries (Autumn) of Tampa, FL, Marissa Maries (Brendan) of Missoula, MT, Ian Maries-Bierley, Collin Bierley, Jacob Maries, Kira Maries, Craig (Erin) and Ashley Bierley (Hector), and Ethan Leuschan (Cristina). Also survived by several great grandchildren and a very special niece, Kristine Marthinsen. In addition, the family has extreme gratitude to mom’s caregiver, Stefany and will always be grateful for the love and care she provided.

Other than family, mom enjoyed American and family history, reading, bowling, attending grandchildren’s sporting events, crossword puzzles and a good challenge. She was a loyal friend and a fierce protector. We will miss her terribly.

Friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Jude Church 2801 W. 6^th Street, Erie, PA 16505 and will be livestreamed and can be viewed at www.stjudeapos.org.
