Sandra Krieger

Sandra Elig Tharp Krieger, age 73, passed away on Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at Twinbrook Medical Center.

She was born on August 8th, 1939 in McMechen, WV daughter of the late Fred and Lillian Marple Elig.

Sandi graduated from Academy High School in 1957; she then worked at GECAC for a number of years, then at Children's Services Office of Children and Youth as a home day-care provider until her retirement in 2006.

She was a 56 year member of Elmwood Presbyterian Church; Koinonia of Erie County; she was TOPS club member; the PTA; and the Red Hat Society.

Traveling to Japan and spending several weeks there was her biggest adventure. Sandi was an avid crafter, enjoyed photography and crocheting.

Sandi was preceded in death by her first husband Charles Tharp whom she married in 1960, infant children Mark Charles Tharp and Vicki Ann Tharp, a son Scott Charles Tharp, and her second husband James Krieger; whom she married in 2008.

Survivors include two daughters Linda Hart (Robert) and Julie Jones (Marvin, Jr.) both of Erie, PA. Former daughter-in-law Patricia Duenas of Aiea, HI.

Grandchildren Beverly Tharp Clark (Darius) of Vacaville, CA; Hillary Tharp of Aiea, HI. Halle, Devon, Ian Tharp, Jessika Tharp-McCreary and Daniel Hart all of Erie. One great-grandchild Devin James Clark of Vacaville, CA.

Many of her daycare "kids" and nieces and nephews also survive.

Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 602 West 10th Street on Thursday from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9pm and are invited to attend services there on Friday at 11am with Pastor John Stoddard officiating.
