It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Samuel Ward Jr., who departed from this world on March 1, 2024. Samuel, a proud graduate of Academy High School, furthered his education at Gannon University, and later, he graduated from the Mercyhurst University Municipal Police Training Academy.
A dedicated family man, Samuel leaves behind a legacy of love, commitment, and service. His impact on the lives of those around him extended far beyond his professional achievements.
In addition to his parents, the late Reverend Samuel and Mrs. Ruby M. Craig Ward Sr., he is preceded in death by his brothers, Arthur Ward, Ezekiel Ward and Ernest F. Ward and a nephew, Jamie Nicholson.
Samuel is survived by his loving siblings, Reverend Linda A. Reed, Reverend Timothy G. Ward, Reverend Martha M. Woodard, Margaret Mcleod (husband Dave Mcleod), Ronald E. Ward, Craig T. Ward and Jacqueline D. Jordan. Samuel was a devoted uncle to nieces, Shanta, Myra, Ruby, Zynera and Olivia and nephews, Edison Nicholson, Lavern Nicholson, Christopher Roberts, Rayon Ward, Dale Vactor, Offel Jordan, Carnell Carroll, Hilton Ward, Milton Ward, Tyshawn Ward and Rickey Woodard. He fostered strong bonds with generations as a beloved Great and Great-Great Uncle as well as cousin. He is further survived by close friends, Leander Barnes and Dale Vactor.
In his professional life, Samuel's commitment to service was evident through his graduation from the Mercyhurst University Municipal Police Training Academy. His dedication and sense of duty made a lasting impact on the community he served while working in the security department at Hamot Hospital.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Samuel's life at Burton Quinn Scott Cremation & Funeral Services Inc. Downtown, 602 W 10th St. on Monday, March 11, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. until time of service at 3:00 p.m. The service will be an opportunity for those who knew Samuel to share memories, offer support, and find solace together.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741. Your contributions will honor his memory by supporting a cause dear to his heart.
The Ward family appreciates the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time. Your presence and your kind words are a comfort as we remember and celebrate the life of Samuel Ward Jr.
