Sally R. M. Genck

Sally R. M. Genck, age 86, of Erie passed away Saturday, March 15, 2014 at St. Mary’s Home East. She was born April 23, 1927 in Erie the daughter of the late Harrison and Mary O’Connell Genck. She attended St. Patrick grade school and was a 1945 graduate of Strong Vincent High School.
Sally had worked at Halle Bros. Erie store in the office and also participated in style shows for 36 years until the store closed in 1982. She also worked at St. Ann’s Church rectory and Marine Bank (PNC Bank).
She made friends very easily and always found someone to talk to. Sally loved to play golf and bridge and also did a lot of gardening, knitting, and entertaining. She loved to travel, especially to Florida and Washington, D.C.
Besides her parents, Sally was preceded in death by two brothers-in-law, William Heidt and Paul Murray.
Family living  to mourn her passing include her two sisters, Kathryn Murray and Shirley Heidt along with her brother, Charles Genck and his wife Nancy, all of Erie. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
Sally was loved by all who knew her and she will certainly be missed by family and friends. Her family would like to extend their appreciation and thanks to the staff and nurses at St. Mary’s Home East for the wonderful care and kindness provided to Sally.
Friends are invited to call at the John J. Quinn Funeral Home, West 9th & Liberty St. Tuesday from 4:00PM until 7:00PM and are invited to attend Prayer Services there Wednesday at 10:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM in St. Patrick Catholic Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
