Sally Jane Davis

Sally Jane Davis, age 82, passed away on Monday February 19, 2024, at Pleasant Ridge Manor in Girard, Pennsylvania with her husband of nearly 65 years by her side.

She was born in Warren Pennsylvania on June 30, 1941, to the late Harold and Romaine (Gantz) Griggs. 

After graduating from Eisenhower High School, she married Carl M. Davis and moved to Fairview Pennsylvania.

Sally was dedicated to her family, and the most important role in her life was that of being the mother to her three children, for whom she loved to cook delicious meals, often including something chocolate for dessert. Her love of cooking extended to working at the Fairview High School and Middle School cafeterias in the mid 1970s. 

As an avid reader, one of her favorite places was the local library. During the summer, you could often find her out in the garden tending to the hundreds of tomato plants that she and her husband planted for many years.

Sally was a member of the Federated Church of East Springfield where she would often show up to services wearing her favorite color, purple. She was very involved in the early years of the WLD Ranch, named after her late brother-in-law Wayne L. Davis. Later she served as treasurer and bookkeeper at the Ranch. At home, Sally loved to keep an organized and detailed check register!

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her firstborn child, son Mark A. Davis.

Sally is survived by her husband Carl and two daughters: Valarie (Craig) Mayle of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, and Carrie Christina (Paul) Kan of Burlington, Ontario, Canada; her only sibling, sister Sherry Hill; her granddaughter Amy Mayle; her “grandpups” Bernie and Cali and five nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the WLD Ranch on Saturday March 2^nd from 1:00pm until the time of service at 2:30pm.
