Ryan Joseph “Rydo” Palmer, age 35, passed away unexpectedly due to a hiking accident on July 19, 2013 in Colorado.
He was born on December 25, 1977 in Erie, PA son of Dennis Palmer and Rosemary Walker Guarino.
Ryan attended Fairview High School and graduated from Mars High School in 1997. He obtained his Associates Degree in Computer Aided Drafting from Pittsburgh Technical Institute. He was employed by the Sweet Basil Restaurant in Vail, Colorado for over 10 years.
Ryan was a skateboarder, and avid snowboarder, and a seasoned hiker. His last great accomplishment was crossing Capital Peak-Knifes Edge in Aspen, Colorado.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Edward and Gertrude Walker and his paternal grandmother Victoria Koller.
Survivors include his father Dennis Palmer of Erie, PA; his mother and step-father Rosemary and Greg Guarino of Erie; two sisters; Kim Madara and her husband Nick of Raleigh, NC and Kristin Palmer of Erie, PA. His Godparents Dick and Debi Custer of Erie, aunts and uncle, John and Jane Walker of Portland, OR and Barbara McGraine of Erie, and many cousins also survive.
Ryan is also survived his faithful companion, his loving dog Ian.
Friends may call at The Burton Westlake Funeral Home 3801 West 26th Street Erie, PA 16506 on Saturday from 12:00 until 2:00 pm and are invited to attend the time of the service there at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Dan Owen officiating.
