Ryan Callahan, age 33, of Erie passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at his residence in East Palestine, Ohio.
He was born in Erie, PA on September 9, 1988 a son to Robert Callahan and Jane Thompson Callahan both of Erie.
Ryan was a graduate of Villa Maria Academy in 2007. He was passionate about his schoolwork and excelled in academics. He was on the basketball and tennis teams and was a member of Student Council. Ryan graduated from Penn State Behrend in 2011 with a Bachelor of Science in Management with a focus in Economics, where he was in the Econ Club, Student Government and several other activities. He mainly worked in sales over the years and excelled wherever he was, including a Sales Rep at WB Mason and for the last 3 years with Verizon.
He loved cycling, running, tennis, and basketball. He enjoyed horseshoes with his father and being outdoors. He was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan, especially the Steelers, and enjoyed going to games. March Madness was his favorite sports season. He loved to travel and has seen many places, even spending time in Europe. He enjoyed going to amusement parks like Cedar Point and Waldameer. He loved going to the beach, whether it was to walk the family dog Daisy, run, bike, or just enjoy the scenery. He enjoyed camping and taking family trips to Kinzua. He ran 5k marathons and went on
cycling trips.
Ryan was a bright light in his community wherever he was, participating in many organizations and activities. He was a leader for Cycling Through Steps, a group-fellowship, service and support organization that fixes and restores used bikes for adults and children in need, which meant a lot to him. He also participated in yoga at Mind, Body, Spirit Group. He was a member of Ashes to Life Church where Pastor Mark was one of his mentors. No matter where he went, he was the life of the party and everyone’s friend. He had a great sense of style and always looked dapper. He really enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and did so every chance he got. He was always up for an adventure. Ryan was kind, thoughtful, charming, brilliant, hilarious, so much more, and overall the most beautiful and sweet soul. He touched so many people’s lives with sharing his experience, strength, and hope. His happiness and energy made everyone adore him. Ryan had a way of making you feel loved and special but he was the most special person of all. Ryan is so greatly loved by his family and many friends. He will forever be deeply missed.
He is proceeded in death by his grandparents, step-mother, uncles, and several friends.
He is survived by his parents; two brothers Bob Callahan (Stacey) of Union City; Chris Callahan (Alyssa) of Erie; two sisters April Callahan of Texas & Kaitlyn Callahan (Adam) of Erie. He is survived by aunts, uncles, cousins, niece and nephew. He is also survived by so many mentors and friends; please know how much Ryan loved and cared for each one of you and how much his family appreciates the love and support he had from so many.
Friends may call at the Burton Quinn Scott Cremation and Funeral Services at West Ridge, 3801 West 26th St. on Sunday from 2:00 until time of prayer service at 5:00 pm.
