Ruth Sins

     Ruth Catherine Winiarczyk Sins, 80, of Erie, died on Monday, December 31, 2018, at Sarah Reed Senior Living.  She was born on April 20, 1938, in Erie, Pa., daughter of the late Casimir and Rose M. Adamowicz Winiarczyk.  A 1956 graduate of Academy High School, she belonged to St. John the Baptist Church where she sang in the choir.  Ruth was a dedicated mother serving as a Girl Scout Leader and volunteering for the Academy High School and Central High School Bands from 1986 to 1994.  She enjoyed bowling, sewing and crafts, loved dogs, and most especially loved babysitting her grandchildren, family members and friends.
     In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Tom Casey and a nephew, Michael Winiarczyk II.
     Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Richard G. Sins; two daughters, Catherine M. Guerriero (Mike) of Erie and Elizabeth A. Sam (Scott) of Warren, Mich.; three sons, Dale G. Sins, Gary P. Sins (Catrina) and John A. Sins (Julie), all of Erie; a brother, Mike Winiarczyk I (Judy) of Phoenix, AZ; eight grandchildren, Shawn Sins (Kay) of Alexandria, VA, Noel Sins, Jenna Sins, Caleb Sins, Kara Hardner (Tim) and Scott Guerriero (companion Keila Peck), all of Erie, and Alexander Sam and Catherine Sam, both of Warren, Mich.; two great-grandchildren, Rowen Sins of Alexandria, Va. and  Jayda Lydic of Erie; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and her beloved dog Leo.
     The family wishes to express a special thank you to LECOM VNA Hospice, Sarah Reed Senior Living and Great Lakes Home Health for the special care shown to Ruth.
     Friends may call at the Scott Funeral Home, 2104 Myrtle Street, Friday from 3 to 7 p.m.  A Prayer Service will be held at the funeral home Saturday at 9:15 a.m. followed at 10 a.m. by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Baptist Church.  Fr. John Jacquel will officiate.  Burial will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to St. John the Baptist Church, 2701 East Avenue, Erie, PA  16504.
