Ruth Gray

Our beloved Ruth died suddenly on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 and went straight to heaven where she was greeted by her father, William Spiegel and sister-in-law/best friend, Susan Gray. Ruth was a constant source of love and support to her family and friends and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She wanted to help anyone she could and if she couldn’t, you were put on a prayer line. Many of you who read this were prayed for. Ruth never had children of her own but loved them immensely and spent many years caring for them through her work at Early Years, Mercyhurst, Villa Maria, and Harborcreek YMCA day care. She was a graduate of Villa Maria grade school and St. Benedicts Academy. She enjoyed many road trips with her husband around the U.S., but not on an airplane.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 27 years, the love of her life, Thomas E. Gray, and her fur baby Chloe. Also left to cherish her memory, mother Kathleen (Kraus) Spiegel, sister Mary Lou and her husband Richard Foran of California, brother Robert and wife Cathleen Spiegel of New Jersey, and sister JoAnne Spiegel of Erie. Also surviving her are her in-laws, Thomas and Patricia Gray, James and Laurie Gray, and Carolyn Colicchio, as well as best friends Candace Fell and Roberta Warner. She always gave extra love to her nieces and nephews, 1^st Lieutenant Rob, wife Monika, and great niece Olivia, Erica, husband Sargent Nigel, Collette, Christian, Maggie, Julian, Andrew, Daniel and great nephew Odrick, Kate, and Chelsea. She was godmother and confirmation sponsor for many of them.

Memorials in Ruth’s memory may be made in Ruth’s honor to the Neighborhood Art House or Emmaus Ministries. Ruth won’t be calling tomorrow, but will be forever in our hearts.

Friends are invited to call at the Quinn Funeral Home, West 9^th & Liberty St. on Friday from 2-5 & 7-9 PM and are invited to attend Prayer Services there Saturday at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Patrick Catholic Church. Burial will be in Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.
