Ruth Crosby

July 27, 1944 — June 16, 2018

     Ruth Kaschak Crosby, age 73, of Erie, died on Saturday, June 16, 2018, at UPMC Hamot.  She was born on July 27, 1944, in Erie, daughter of the late Andrew and Helen Kozlinski Kaschak.

     Survivors include three children, Christine Crosby and lifetime partner John L. Hollingsworth of Erie, James J. Crosby and wife Angela of Charlotte, NC and Michael E. Crosby of Erie; a grandson, Jacob M. Crosby of Erie; a sister, Caroline J. Rohrer and husband Victor of Las Vegas, NV; her former husband and friend, James J. Crosby and wife Chetta; several nieces and nephews; and kitty Bristol.

     She was a 1962 graduate of St. Benedict Academy and earned her LPN degree from St. Vincent School of Nursing in 1964.  Ruth had decades of nursing and customer service, and in retirement pride and joy came from her title of "Grandma Ruth" for GECAC Millcreek Pre-K.

     She was a co-founder of Girard High School Girls Soccer Team, former member of The Erie Clowns, and current and longtime member of St. Joseph Bread of Life Community where she graciously served as an Extraordinary Minister, Committed Adorer in the Adoration Chapel, Bereavement Committee member, Prayer Shawl Ministry, Healing Prayer Team, Octoberfest and "anything Fr. Larry asked of her to do."

     Hobbies and great talents included knitting, crocheting, sewing, canning, cooking, baking, playing bingo and creativity in many forms...  She will be most missed at the family card tables.  She had an appreciation of nature, love of animals, and a kind soul.  Please come celebrate her life with us. 

     A Funeral Liturgy will be held at St. Joseph Bread of Life Church, 147 W. 24th Street, Erie, Pa. on Thursday at 9 a.m. with the Rev. Gerald Wright, Celebrant.  Arrangements have been entrusted to the Scott Funeral Home, 2104 Myrtle Street. 

     In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to GECAC Pre-K Counts Program, 18 West 9th Street, Erie, PA  16501.
