Ruth Blose

Ruth A. Blose age 76, of Millcreek, passed away on Thursday, December 14, 2017 at her residence, following a lengthy illness.

She was born in Erie on August 10, 1941 a daughter of the late Laverne and Dorothy Reckoff Burch.

She worked at Sterling Seal and then for many years as a school bus driver for Millcreek Township School District.

Ruth attended New Life Community Church and read her Bible every night.

Ruth had the “gift of gab” and could talk and listen to anyone. She loved her family, children, and grandchildren and spent lots of time with them.

She enjoyed traveling, painting classes at Asbury Barn and was a volunteer with the Lake Shore F. D. Ladies Auxiliary and also for the West Ridge F. D. Auxiliary.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, David R. Blose Sr.; a son, Eric Blose; and a sister, Norma Jean.

She is survived by her children, John Blose and his special friend Lori Berchtold; Christine Miller and her husband Joseph, Ruth Carnes and her husband James, and David Blose and his wife Stephanie, who was Ruth’s caregiver,  all of Erie. She is further survived by 15 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; her  brother and best friend Richard; and three sisters, Arlene, Joan, and Beverly. She is further survived by many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the Lake Shore Fire Department for their service and care during Ruth’s illness.

Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home 3801 W 26^th Street (at Powell Ave) on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service at 5:00 p.m.  with Pastor Abe Edwards officiating.   

Burial will be private at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
