Ruth Arnold

Ruth E. Arnold, age 88, of Erie, passed away on August 17, 2016 at Golden Living Center Walnut Creek.

She was born in West Salem Township, PA on February 17, 1928, a daughter of the late Claire and Mary Wise Thompson. Ruth graduated from Sherman High School in Sherman, NY.

Ruth loved playing cards, baking and cooking. She was very involved in her church and most of all loved her family and was extremely family oriented.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Arnold on December 30, 2006, as well as 2 daughters, Christine Walters in 2013 and Linda Hair in 1974.

Ruth is survived by four children, Bryce Hair (Kathy) Erie; Jackie Gundersen (Eric) Wellsboro, PA; William Hair, Newfane, NY; and Luann Hitchens (Will) Millsboro, Delaware. Grace Courtney (Barney) of North Carolina, a younger sister and brother in law also survive. Numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews are part of Ruth’s living legacy.

Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home, 3801 West 26th Street, (at Powell Avenue,) on Monday, August 22 from 12:00 pm until the time of service at 1:00 pm.

Burial will be private at Erie County Memorial Gardens.
