Ruben Roberts

Ruben William “Spooky” Roberts, age 66, passed away on July 26, 2022 at his home surrounded by loved ones.

He was born on April 3, 1956, in Chicago, Illinois, to the late Willie Mae Roberts and J. Hue Crockett.

Spooky attended Academy High School. He worked at the JFK Center for 10 years as a mentor. Spooky enjoyed completing home repairs, yard work, and washing cars. Most of all, Spooky enjoyed spending time with his family and left a smile with everyone he met. He was an avid Steelers and Lakers fan.

In addition to his parents, he is proceeded in death by his fiancé, Ella Robinson, his granddaughter, Jacentae Goudy, his step-daughter, Shantai Robinson, and his brothers, Frank Crockett Sr., Bobby Crockett and Michael Crockett.

Spooky leaves behind to cherish his memory, his daughter, Tanja Goudy (husband Barry); step-sons, Willie Baker Jr., and Tyrone Baker; his grandchildren, Shiawntae, Nymari, Eireion, Angel and Russell; two great-grandchildren, Danero and Daeonna; his sisters, Carolyn “Penny” Roberts (husband Robert), Sondra Moffatt (husband DeWitt), Willie Jean Ester and Michelle Crockett Howze (husband Henry); his brothers, James Crockett, Dean Roberts,  William Crockett and Maurice Crockett; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Friends may call at the Morning Star Baptist Church, 327 East 23^rd Street, Erie, 16503, on Saturday, August 6, 2022 from 10:00 A.M. until time of Spooky’s homegoing celebration at noon officiated by Pastor Duane F. Hunter.
