Rosemary Vollbrecht, age 78, of Millcreek, passed away on Saturday, January 2, 2016 at UPMC Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh, following a brief illness.
She was born in Reading, PA on January 8, 1937, a daughter of the late George and Alice Moran Arentz.
Rosemary graduated from Reading Central High School, then attended Penn State University where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree. She was the Auction Manager at WQLN for many years, worked at David’s Bridal and was a self-employed seamstress for over 25 years.
Rosemary was a member of the Erie Elks Lodge, BPOE #67 and the Lake Erie Chapter of the Penn State Alumni Association. She was an excellent seamstress and was a very pleasant person whom everyone liked.
She is survived by her husband of 36 years, Arnold Vollbrecht, three sons, Jim Lay, IV of Maryland and Jeff and David (Felicia) Lay both of Erie, a daughter Vera Vollbrecht of Tennessee, a granddaughter, two grandsons and a step-granddaughter. She is further survived by a sister, Kathy Zoga of FL and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home, 3801 West 26th Street, (at Powell Avenue) on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and are invited to attend a service there on Friday at 11:00 am.
Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
