Rose Sonney

Rose Marie Anderson Sonney, age 87, of Girard, passed away peacefully Thursday, June 9, 2016 at St. Vincent Heath Center, surrounded by her family.

She was born in Erie, on March 11, 1929, a daughter of the late Carl Arthur and Mary Ann Walczak Anderson.

Rose Marie graduated from East High School. She was a home maker and enjoyed quilting. Rose Marie was happy every day of her life. She will be remembered for being a loving wife, mother and grandmother and always being good to others. She was a former member of Bethany Lutheran Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Patricia Jean Sonney;

and her step mother, Ethel Anderson, and her Aunt Ellen Rowe who raised her, as well as a grandson, Michael Sonney.

Rose Marie is survived by her husband of 68 years, Gene F. Sonney; three sons: Donald A.of Reynoldsburg, OH., James M. and his wife Helicia of Erie, and Thomas C. and his wife Nancy of Wattsburg; two daughters: Jennifer R. Correll and her husband William of Edinboro and Kathleen J. Schoullis and Harry Bowden of E. Springfield; and a half brother, Robert J. Anderson and his wife Lois of Florida. She is further survived by 19 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home, 525 Main St. East, Girard on Sunday from 4-8pm and are invited to attend a funeral service there on Monday at 11 am.
