Rose (Toppo) Marceca, age 95, passed away peacefully at home, the Regency at South Shore on Monday, October 17, 2022.
Rose was born August 15, 1927 in Meadville, PA the daughter of the late Marie (Minnie) Dominica Barbato and Giuseppe Toppo. Rose married her husband, Arthur A. Marceca in Meadville on September 16, 1946. That same day they moved to Chicago to further their educations. After graduation they moved to Warren, PA. Rose and Art had three daughters and after 35 years they then moved to Florida residing in Clermont and Leesburg before returning in 2003 to Fairview and later Erie.
Rose throughout her lifetime was known for her great cooking and baking. She was active in many garden clubs, art leagues, and craft groups. Rose could paint and draw, and sew anything. Her crocheting skills were well known and she always had time to make and donate hats for children and adults. Her afghans have graced many homes no matter where she lived. She would make friends easily.
Rose is survived by her three daughters; Dr. Anita Dutrow (Wayne); Theresa Aloiz (David) and Nancy Grucza. She is the grandmother of Jason, Chris, Kate, Emily, and Lejla and the great-grandmother of Anthony, Lilah, and Max. Also survived by many nieces and nephews and her good friend, Lucille Urich.
In addition to her parents, Rose was preceded in going home by her husband of 58 years, Dr. Arthur A. Marceca; a brother, Philip Toppo and a sister, Susan Katulich.
Rose’s family would like to thank VNA Hospice of LECOM; Serina of Home Care/Home Share; and Marie and Marnie of the Regency for their kindness and caring shown to her family.
Friends are invited to call at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church, 2801 W.6th St. on Friday, October 21, 2022 from 9:00 am until 10:00 AM at which time a Funeral Mass will be celebrated. Committal Services will follow at 1:30 PM in St. Bridget Cemetery, Meadville, PA.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes to have mass offering given to St. Julia Church in Rose’s memory.
