Roosevelt “Rosey” Folks Sr., age 82, of Erie, passed away Wednesday November 8, 2017.
Roosevelt was born in Montgomery, AL, on February 10, 1935, to the late Earnest and Annie Ruth (Boswell) Folks. Roosevelt attended Dunbar High. He worked at General Electric as a press operator until he retired in 1997. He served at Mt. Ebal Church as deacon. Rosey enjoyed all sports especially football, baseball, basketball and fishing.
Along with his parents Rosey was preceded in death by his siblings, Reverend John “Jack”, Reverend Eugene and Earnest Folks Jr., Myrtle, and Annie, also a son Roosevelt “Sonny” Folks Jr.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Valerie Folks, his children, Deborah, Eugene, Jeffery, Corey, and Farris (Diondre), stepchildren, Katika, DiJon, Curtis, Malcolm. He is also survived by his two sisters, Velma Ephriam of Illinois and Stella Copeland of Florida. He is furthered survived by a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Special thanks is given to his nephew Gary Briggs for all the love, time, and help he showed Rosey over the years.
Friends may call at 1617 East 26th Street, Erie, PA 16510, at Mt. Ebal Baptist Church on Saturday from 10:00am until the time of service there at 11:30am, with Reverend Cleveland Ulmer officiating, and his nephew Reverend Clarence Hall eulogizing. Burial will follow at Erie Cemetery.
