Ronald C. "Ron" Shilling, 72, formerly of New Orleans, died Sunday, May 17, 2015, at his home in Erie. He was born October 20, 1942, in Greenville, PA, son of the late Bernard and Kathryn Pearl Polley Shilling. A 1960 graduate of Girard High School, he studied Management Science at Case Institute of Technology, Cleveland, OH. Ron served in the Army National Guard and Army Reserves for six years. He worked in advertising sales for Brown Thompson Newspapers and had also worked in insurance sales and telemarketing. He enjoyed a variety of sports, especially the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Denver Broncos, and had a passion for music.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his sister, Linda Dunbar and husband Douglas of Erie; a nephew, Brooks Marzka of Pittsburgh, PA; a grandniece, Sophia Marzka of Erie; and dear friends, Octavia and Kerry Brashears of Metairie, LA.
A Reception of Friends will be held at the Scott Funeral Home, 2104 Myrtle Street, Saturday, June 6, 2015, from 10 a.m. until the time of a Celebration of Life Service there at Noon. The Rev. Richard A. Moyer will officiate. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
