Ronald J. Rycek, Sr.

Ronald J. Rycek, Sr. age 87, of Millcreek passed away on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at UPMC Hamot.

He was born in Erie on February 27, 1938, a son of the late John and Lucille Stevenson Rycek.

Ron graduated from McDowell High School and went on to serve in the United States Army for 27 years.

He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, flying planes and using his ham radio. He loved going to Disney World and was a huge fan of Mickey Mouse. Ron was a member of the American Legion Post 773 and the current Secretary of the Wattsburg Wireless Association.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Liza Athey and a brother Donald Rycek.

He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Karen Agnello Rycek; 5 children, Ronald J. Rycek, Jr. (fiancé Michele Austin), Richard Rycek (Wendy), Debra Pennsy (Alton Nickerson), and Brenda Phillips (Frank); a brother, David Rycek; 15 grandchildren, Tiffaney Rycek, Ronald Rycek III., Stephen Athey, Chantel Mooney, Jasmine Clark, Janna Clark, Derek, Sean and Tyler Rycek, Timothy and Jessica Pennsy. Stephen Palacio, Ashley Cooley, Amber Skinner and Courtney Barr; many great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Burton Quinn Scott Cremation and Funeral Services, Inc. West Ridge, 3801 W. 26th Street, on Friday, from 1:00 to 3:00 pm and 5:00 to 7:00 pm and are invited to attend services there on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. Burial to follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
