Ronald W. Root

Ronald Root, age 81, of Erie, passed away on Sunday, July 7, 2024 at his residence.

He was born on February 14, 1943, the son of the late William S. and Arlene June Gay Root.

He was a Vietnam Veteran, serving in the United States Army and worked for Eriez Magnetics for 27 years as a coil assembler.

Ronald was active in the Boy Scouts of America, Demolay, American Legion #773, Asbury Senior’s group and the Asbury United Methodist Church prayer shawl group. He also enjoyed gardening and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Sandra Gunn Root, sister Joanne Jablonski, and brother Charles Root.

Survivors include two daughters Michelle Heininger (Jay) of Beavercreek Ohio, and Cynthia Ball (Don) of Erie, four grandchildren Cassie Heininger, Lauren Heininger, Cody Haraburda, and Nick Hower, one great granddaughter Lauren, and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Burton Quinn Scott Cremation and Funeral Services, West Ridge 3801 W. 26th Street on Friday, July 19th from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and are invited to attend a service on Saturday, July 20th at Asbury United Methodist Church 4703 W Ridge Rd, Erie, PA 16506 at 11:00 a.m. Burial to follow in Laurel Hill Cemetery with Full Military Honors.
