Ronald Joseph Paterniti, Jr., age 73, of Millcreek passed away following a very lengthy, courageous battle.
He was born in Erie on January 9, 1949 a son of the late Ronald Sr. and Delores A. Costa Paterniti.
Ron was a 1968 graduate of McDowell High School.
He started working at Erie Tool and Die during his high school years, and after graduating he went on to start Paterniti Builders, which he owned and operated for 40 years. During which, he built the first ever K-104 Giveaway House. Ron also served as President of ERI Investments.
Ron was a hardworking family man who always put his family first. He enjoyed taking family vacations and would organize all family get-together’s making every picnic, fish fry or holiday perfect. He enjoyed fishing in Alaska and on Lake Erie, hunting and was an avid Cleveland Indians, Cavalier’s, and Browns Fan. He was very active in his sons wrestling career in middle and high school and was very active in the Boosters serving as President for both the Team Erie Vipers and Cathedral Prep.
Ron was a long time member of the Erie Yacht Club.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Susan Hill Paterniti; four children, Amy Burhenn and her husband Steven, Lori Onorato and her husband David, Kristy Bardo and her husband Ryan and Ronald James “RJ” Paterniti all of Erie; nine grandchildren, Shawn, Ashley, Drew, Jacob, Ava, Natalie, Sophia, Anthony and Carmella; two great grandchildren, Keegan and Nolan; four siblings, Norb Paterniti and his wife Dorris, Connie Lushini and her husband Tom, Kathy Bennetti and her husband Paul and Chuck Paterniti and his wife Terry and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff of St. Vincent Hospital, Forestview Skilled Nursing Home, Interim Health Care Hospice and the Cleveland Clinic for all of the loving supportive care the family received.
Friends may call at the Burton Quinn Scott Cremation and Funeral Services, Inc., 3801 W. 26th Street on Friday from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday at 12:00 noon at Our Lady of Peace Church 2401 W. 38th Street, Erie, PA 16506. Burial to follow in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
