Rona Strubel

Rona Brestensky Strubel, age 51, of Girard, passed away Monday, May 18, 2015 at St. Vincent Health Center, following a courageous 7 ½ year battle with lung cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Pittsburgh, on November 22, 1963, a daughter of the late Joseph and Joanne Solomon Brestensky.

Rona graduated from Leechburg Area High School in 1981 and Gannon University in 1985. She was a medical technologist as well as a technical customer service rep for 22 years at ACL. Rona belonged to St. John the Evangelist Church in Girard. She loved to read and was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan. She enjoyed her kids sporting events, but above all, she was a loving wife and mother.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her father in law, David Strubel.

Rona is survived by her husband, Michael, whom she married May 23, 1992; son, Justin Strubel and daughter, Kaitlyn Strubel; brothers: Joseph C. Brestensky and his wife Edith of Leechburg, PA, and Mark S. Brestensky and his wife Paula of Butler, PA; mother in law, Linda Strubel of Lake City; and sisters in laws: Becky Westgate and Wendy Zukowski and her husband, Mike, all of Erie. She is further survived by several nieces, nephews, and many close friends.

Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home, 525 Main Street East, in Girard on Wednesday from 5-8 pm, and Thursday 2-4 and 6-8pm.and are invited for prayers on Friday morning at 9:15 at the funeral home, followed by a mass of Christian Burial at 10am, at St. John the Evangelist Church, 101 Olin Ave., Girard, PA 16417 with Reverend Bill Miller officiating.
