Robert A. Wienczkowski, age 82, of Erie, died on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at UPMC Hamot. He was born in Erie, Pa. on March 23, 1934, a son of Edward and Anna Runser Wienczkowski.
Robert graduated from Tech Memorial and started a professional bowling career. With a growing family, he gave up the bowling circuit to stay closer to home. He successfully ran Keystone Bowling Supply until he retired in 1993. Keystone helped construct, manage and supply bowling alleys. Almost every bowling lane in a 100 mile radius was constructed by Robert.
He also had a floor sanding business. Robert enjoyed the great outdoors including hunting and fishing. His favorite outdoor activity was tending to his garden where tomato plants grew as tall as 6ft. And he still found time to bowl and golf. He loved gathering with family, friends, and those affectionately known as “potlickers”.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sons, Gary, Michael and Mark and a brother Don.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years Charlotte; eight children: James (fiancé Patty) of Erie, Terry (Jim) Grasinger of Erie, Dan (Diane) of Findlay, Ohio, John (friend Cheryl) of McKean, Susan (Mike) Ross of Houston, Texas, Lisa (Mark) McCain of Erie, Carrie (Charlie) Gardner of Erie, and Ann (Jeff) Markham of Lake City; and lots of grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is further survived by his brother Richard, and his sister Rose Zaffino, both of Erie, and several nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to call on the family on Tuesday January 10th from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at 2pm with Rev. Matt Kujawinski presiding at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home, 3801 W. 26th St. (at Powell Ave.).
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 3025 French St., Erie, PA 16504.
