Robert Paul Strain, Sr., age 73, formerly of Fairview, died unexpectedly on Thursday, February 7, 2013, at his home in Girard. Born on October 6, 1939, in Erie, he was a son of the late Claude and Pauline Hanks Strain. Bob attended Titusville High School and was employed at GE for 27 years, retiring as a sandblaster in the train division. He was a lifetime member of the Fairview Fire Dept and was a fire police captain and lieutenant for many years. He loved westerns and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by a brother Arthur Strain. He is survived by two daughters: Diane Rainey and her husband Jerry of Fairview and Kristy Strain of Girard; three sons: Dennis Muller of Erie, Todd Strain of Girard, and Robert Jr. of Farrell; his ex-wife Cheryl of Girard; a cousin, Samuel Strain of Erie; as well as seven grandchildren: Eric, Kelly, Erin, Robert III, Kraig, Bryonna and Courtney.
Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home, 525 Main Street East in Girard on Monday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., followed by a service there at 8 p.m. in the All Faiths Chapel.
