Robert Snyder

Robert “Butch” Snyder, Jr. age 61, of Fairview, passed away on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh.
He was born in Erie on February 9, 1957 a son of the late Anna Deutsch Snyder Erven.
Butch attended Fairview High School and then went on to work as a Welder and Foreman at Erie Sand and Gravel for over 25 years.
He was a past member of the Fairview American Legion #470, and is a current member of the Millcreek American Legion #773 and the Edinboro McKean VFW Post #740, where he was part of both of their riders groups.
Butch enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening and especially loved riding his Harley. His passion for volunteering was legendary. He was a mechanic to whom ever needed him. 
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a son, Robbie Snyder; his first wife, Jodi Terrill Snyder; and a step- father, Ralph Erven.
Butch is survived by his wife of 23 years, Valerie Kytic Snyder; daughter, Marissa Snyder; a son, Brent Snyder both of Fairview; two brothers, Dale Snyder (Donna) of Edinboro and Dan Snyder (Diane) of West Springfield, PA; five sisters, Betty Lou Snyder- Barczyk  (George) of Erie, Cathy Bailey of Erie and Robin Shubbuck of Cleveland, OH, Linda Schember (Sam) of Lexington, SC, and Sylvia Frantz (Howard) of FL; many nieces and nephews; and three friends that were like brothers, Vic Herhold and Brian Madara and Billy Carney and so many other great friends. He will be sadly missed by all.
Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home 3801 W. 26th Street (at Powell Ave) on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. and are invited to attend a service there on Monday at 11:00 a.m.
