Robert E. “Rudy” Schlabach age 69, of Erie, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, November 11, 2013 at his residence.
He was born in Erie on September 3, 1944, a son of the late Amos E. and Winifred Loeffel Schlabach.
Robert graduated from Academy High School in 1962.
He worked as a parts manager at Briggs & Hagenlocher for many years until his retirement in 2008.
He was a member of the Elks Lodge #67, Siebenbuerger Club, and the Sportsmen’s Athletic Club.
Robert loved watching NASCAR making many trips to Michigan and Watkins Glen. He enjoyed working in his yard and loved being with his friends and family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife and the love of his life, Bonita Louise Smith Schlabach.
He is survived by his daughter, Michele Bone and her husband Scott of Erie; two sisters, Judy Sierota and her husband Joseph of Erie and Nancy Ingram of Carlisle, PA; a brother, David Schlabach and his wife Janet of Erie and four grandchildren, Mitchell, Shelby, Bryce and Connor. He is further survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home 3801 W. 26th Street on Thursday from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited to attend a service there on Friday at 10:00 a.m.
Burial in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
