Robert Sanders

Robert Earl Sanders, age 65, of Erie, peacefully passed away at UPMC Hamot Hospital with his wife by his side, on Thursday, September 16, 2021.  Robert was born in Rosehill Mississippi on February 7, 1956, son of the late Moody Marion Sanders Sr. and Betty McGhee Sanders. 

Robert moved to Erie in 1979, where he was educated in the Erie school district, where he also participated in basketball.  In his leisure time he enjoyed fishing and shooting pool. 

In 2008, Robert and Nancy were wed in matrimony; which created a bond that truly lasted a lifetime. 

He was preceded in death by his sister, Kathleen Sanders Stephens, a brother, Earnest Ray Sanders and his stepson, Hercules Rieger. 

He leaves to cherish his memory the love of his life, Nancy Sanders, a son, Robert Hull, his oldest brother, Deacon Moody Marion Sanders, Jr. (Jean), four sisters, Mary Smitherman, Nora Jean Smith, and Mary Overton, all of Erie, and Charlean White, of  San Francisco California. He also leaves his grandchildren, stepchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. 

Friends may call at Burton Quinn Scott Cremation & Funeral Services Inc. Downtown, 602 W. 10^th St. on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 12 p.m.  Burial will follow at Lakeside Cemetery.
