Robert Romecki

April 2, 1926 — July 26, 2017

Robert “Bob” P. Romecki, age 91, of Erie, PA passed away on Wednesday, July 26 at Forestview Healthcare Center.  He was born in Erie, PA on April 2, 1926 son of the late Frank and Felice (Wierzchowski) Romecki.

Bob served with the United States Army Air Corps during World War II.  He was a nose gunner on a B-24 Liberator flying with the 15th Air Force out of Italy.

He worked in the Finishing Department for Hammermill Paper Company retiring in 1988 after 42 years of service.

Bob was an enthusiastic Detroit Tiger fan all his life as well as a passionate Ohio State Buckeye football fan. He loved the outdoors spending time working on his lawn and garden. Bob was a skillful carpenter and enjoyed remodeling projects around his home. His favorite hobby was building military model airplanes.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Frank J. Romecki and his sister Elizabeth Romecki.

Bob is survived by his wife of 67 years, Marian (Lichtenberger) Romecki, three daughters, Deborah Hromyak (John), Denise Romecki (Marc Eller) of Columbus, OH, Christine Akers (Randy) of Virginia Beach, VA, and a son Robert J. Romecki (Lori) of Waterford, PA.  He is further survived by four grandchildren Michael J. Hromyak (Kristen) of Cleveland, OH, Rachel Akers of Richmond, VA, Alison Headley (Harvey) of Coventry, England, and Abby Romecki of Waterford, PA. Bob is also survived by two great-grandchildren, Kennedy LaRue and Michael J. Hromyak of Cleveland, OH.

Friends may call at the John J. Quinn Funeral Home, 728 West 9th St. on Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and are invited to attend a Prayer Service there on Monday, July 31st at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 130 East 4th Street at 10:00 a.m.  Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery with military honors by the American Legion Post 773.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Sister Mary Paschal Gray, SSJ Food Pantry, St. Patrick Parish 130 East 4th Street, Erie, PA 16507.
