Robert F. Montgomery, Sr. age 87, passed away on April 30, 2015 at St. Vincent’s Hospital after a lengthy illness.
He was born in Erie, on April 12th, 1928, the son of the late Floyd and Mary Polagyi Montgomery Robert graduated from Strong Vincent High School class of 1945 and served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He was first employed by the Erie Dispatch and the Erie Times for 20 years before becoming an Iron worker being employed through the Iron Worker’s Union #348 as a 46 year member. He enjoyed boating, bowling and RV’ing. Bob loved his many kitties, especially his Teensy Baby.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his great grandson Jax Stone.
He is survived by his loving wife Sandra Montgomery; his four sons, Gary and wife Cindy, Robert Jr., and wife Barbara, John and wife Jean and Patrick all of Erie; his one daughter, Cheryl Runstedler and husband Richard of Lake City; stepdaughter Katherine Collins (Raymond) of Peyton, CO his sister Audrey Brown and husband Lee of Bradford;; 12 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He is also survived by a niece and nephew.
Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home, 3801 West 26th Street( at Powell Ave) on Monday from 3:00- 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. and are invited to a service there at 11 am on Tuesday, May 5, 2015.
Burial in Laurel Hill Cemetery with full military honors.
