Robert Kulka

Robert J. Kulka, age 88, passed away at St Mary’s at Asbury Ridge on Saturday September 2, 2017, after an extended illness.

He was born in Mansfield, OH on February 14, 1929, a son of the late John and Dorothy Warner Kulka. Robert was a graduate of Mansfield High School class of 1947, and served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1950 to 1952 during the Korean Conflict.  He then came home and began his career and family. He then moved to Erie, PA in 1987 working for Johnson Controls.

Robert was active in many organizations; the Knights of Columbus 3^rd and 4^th degree, Boy Scouts Troop #121,  past president of Association of Accountants and Financial Professionals, and a member of Mansfield and Erie Elks & Liederkranz. Robert always loved to travel with his wife. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, and a son-in-law Jeff Gotschall.

He is survived by his wife Diane whom he married in 2002, three sons Thomas (Trisha) Kulka of Columbus, OH, Edward A. (Barbara) Kulka of Mansfield, OH, Kenneth J (Suzanne) Kulka of Columbus, OH along with daughter Andrea L. Gotschall of Columbus, OH. Bob is further survived by 13 grandchildren, four great grandchildren,  brother Richard (Joyce) Kulka of  Mansfield, OH. He is further survived by three stepchildren, Alynn Martin (Raymond Stender) of Erie, Lisa Gualtieri (Kraig),  Glenmoore, PA, and Eric Holle (Diane), Atlanta, GA.

Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home, 3801 W. 26^th St. Erie, PA 16506 on Tuesday September 5^th from 3 to 5pm with a service at the Burton Westlake Chapel beginning at 5 pm. Further visitation will follow in Mansfield, OH at Herlihy-Chambers Funeral Home, Inc., 173 Park Ave., West Mansfield, OH 44902 on Thursday from 6 pm to 8 pm, followed by a funeral mass at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 104 West 1^st Street, Mansfield, on Friday September 8^th, at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Mansfield Catholic Cemetery. Memorials may be made in Bob’s honor to Regional Home Healthcare Hospice, 2564 Village Common Dr., Erie PA 16506, Alzheimer’s Association, 1600 Peninsula Dr., Erie PA 16506, or Boy Scouts Troop #121, 104 West 1^st Street, Mansfield, OH  44902.
