Robert A. “Bob” Hoover of East Springfield, PA passed away at his home surrounded by what he lived for, “his family” on August 12th, at the age of 78. He was born on February 12, 1939 in Erie, a son of the late Cleveland and Madeline Mummaugh Hoover.
At the age of 17, Bob enlisted in the Army and was stationed in Germany. After he served in the military, he came back to Erie and was introduced to his wife of 58 years, Lila Ploss Hoover. Shortly thereafter, he became employed at Automation Devices, where he was a Skilled Feeder Technician for almost 57 years.
One of his biggest treasures was watching his grandchildren pick fresh vegetables out of his garden, or fruit from his orchard. He loved his family and taught them the importance of growing their own food and saving for a rainy day. He touched many people’s lives with his positive attitude and his sense of humor that could give anyone a stomachache from laughing so hard.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers; Sterling and Ted; his sister Evelyn; and his granddaughter Dawn Marie.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Lila Ploss Hoover, 5 daughters: Diane Sanford (Craig) of Ashtabula Ohio, Darlene Teed, Debbie Fuller (Perry) both of Albion, Denise (Dede) Regelman (Aaron) of Crawford, Colorado, and Donna Williams of Albion. After having a house full of girls, he continued to be blessed with 12 granddaughters: Crystal, Nikki, Mandy, Sarah, Stephanie, Katie, Katie Lynn, Ashley, Marissa, Kellie, Kylie, and Ally. Ultimately, he was also blessed with 2 grandsons, his namesake, Robert Fuller, “Bobby”, and his last grandchild, Kevin. In addition to his children and grandchildren, he was fortunate enough to have 11 great grandchildren. (This generation is out-weighing the girls!) His siblings further survive him: Loretta Marshall, Leroy Hoover, Kenny Hoover (Sherry), Gary Hoover and Steve Hoover (Connie) as well as many nieces and nephews.
