Robert Goetz
May 31, 1923 — April 25, 2024
Robert Goetz, a lifetime resident of Erie, PA, 100 years young, passed on to eternal life April 25, 2024. He was born in Erie on May 31, 1923 to the late Albert and Anna Gilkinson Goetz.
He graduated from Strong Vincent High School class of 1941 and worked for Eckerd Drugs in Jamestown, NY and Erie for over 40 years. He was a member of Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, The Millcreek Rotary Club and enjoyed traveling and playing cards.
Bob served with the US Army in World War II, where he was awarded the Purple Heart Medal, Good Conduct Medal, European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 4 bronze stars and the World War II Victory Medal.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Jeanne Goetz, a sister and brothers-in-law.
Robert is survived by his wife Barbara Goetz; daughter Diane Snyder (Dan); son Brian Goetz (Chantel); 4 grandchildren Ashlea Snyder, (Sean), Amanda Miller (Anthony), DJ Snyder (Jessica) and Ryan Snyder (Anne). He is further survived by 9 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Our family would like to thank the staff of Elmwood Gardens and AseraCare Hospice for the great care and compassion provided to Bob.
Friends may call at Burton Funeral Home, 525 Main Street East, Girard, PA on Monday April 29, 2024 from 10:00 AM until time of service at 1:00 PM, officiated by Pastor Kristen Papson of Mount Calvary Lutheran Church. Interment to follow in Laurel Hill Cemetery with full military honors provided by the Erie Crawford County Burial Detail.
