Robert E. “Froggy” Forget, Sr., age 74 of Erie, passed away July 15, 2013 at home after a brief illness.
He was born in Schenectady, NY April 26, 1939, son of the late Edward A. and Elinor Simmons Forget.
Bob was a veteran of the U. S. Army. He worked as a mechanic and in the construction industry. He enjoyed race cars and motorcycles. Bob was an avid hunter and fisherman. He is pictured on the mural at the airport, fishing, and has several fishing citations. He was always the first one on the ice for ice fishing, and the last one off.
Bob was a very smart man, who could do anything he set his mind to.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas and Jerry Forget, and his stepfather Robert Tapp, and a granddaughter Charlie Ann Forget.
Bob is survived by three sons: Edward (Kim) and their children Jennifer, Amber and Niah of Springfield; Robert, Jr., (Darlene) and his son Jarret of Millcreek; and Michael Jones of Waterford; two daughters: Connie of Ohio and Karen Langone (Joe) of Waterford. Several grandchildren and great grandchildren also survive.
Also surviving is his partner and caregiver for the last 11 years, Peg Johnson with whom he lived and her children, Thomas of Girard, Christopher (Lisa) and sons Trevor and Luke of Lake City, Brian (Jenee) and sons Jason Marlow, Justin and Jesse Duke of Cambridge Township, and Michelle Johnson and her daughters Karsyn, Kamryn, Korryn and Kamorra who loved their Poppy dearly.
Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home, 602 West 10th Street, Thursday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral service will be held there on Friday at 10 a.m. with Fr. Michael DeMartinis officiating.
Burial will be private.
