Robert L. "Bob" Dunsmore, age 84, of Millcreek, passed away Friday, February 22, 2013 at St. Vincent Health Center following a brief illness.
He was born in Erie on June 27, 1928, a son of the late Earl L. and Verna Edwards Dunsmore.
Bob graduated from Millcreek High School and then went on to serve in the United Stated Navy.
He worked at Penelec for over 30 years as a groundsman and lineman and also as a chief mechanic for the last 20 years.
He loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren who will miss his story telling.
Bob enjoyed wood working, feeding birds in his yard and watching sports especially the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Pittsburgh Pirates.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald and Earl Dunsmore.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Dolores Spanggard Dunsmore, two sons, Robert Dunsmore Jr. (Rosemary) and Michael Dunsmore (Norrie); a daughter, Sheila Smith (Eric); his grandchildren: Melissa Fuller (Matt), Ashleigh Sontheimer (Adam), Steve, Mike (Linz), Drew and Adam Dunsmore, Jeff Smith (Nakum) and Kari Smith; three great grandchildren, Alex and Ashton Sontheimer and Joshua Fuller; and two brothers, Alan Dunsmore and Gary Dunsmore (Lucy). He is further survived by many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home 3801 W. 26th Street (at Powell Ave.) on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. and are invited to attend services there on Monday at 10:00 a.m.
Entombment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery
