Robert Dear

Robert Allen Dear, age 72, of Lake City, passed away peacefully at his residence on Tuesday, March 3, 2015. He was born in Erie on June 4, 1942, the son of John Richard Dear and the late Jane MacDonald Dear Duncombe.

Bob was a sweet and gentle person, who could light up a room with his smile. He enjoyed walks at Presque Isle, going out to lunch or movies and playing the drums.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a sister, Joan C. Popovich. He is survived by two sisters, Judy Penman and her husband David of Fairview, Jill Anderson and her husband Hugh of Lutz, FL and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his L’Arche family whose continued love, care and support provided Bob with a full and happy life. The family would like to express their gratitude to the L’Arche community especially the team at Jubilee.

Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home, 3801 West 26th Street (at Powell Ave.) on Wednesday beginning at 1:00 pm and are welcome to join in a service and celebration of Bob’s life at 3:00 pm. Private burial will be at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
