Robert Cohen

Robert M. Cohen, age 76, of Erie, passed away at Saint Vincent Health Center on Saturday, September 27, 2014. He was born in Erie on April 13, 1938 a son of the late Sam and Sarah Brandt Cohen.

Robert graduated from Academy High School. As a kid he worked for his father at Sam Cohen Scrap Yard. He worked at GAF as an electrician before moving to Arizona for 25 years. Upon retirement he moved back to Erie to be closer to his family.

Robert liked to work with his hands, and especially enjoyed wood carving, jewelry making and making dolls from fire extinguishers. He liked to go camping, boating, fishing and to flea markets. He was also active in the Boy Scouts. Those around him always enjoyed his sense of humor which he instilled in his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Herbert, Harry and Maurice Cohen.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary (Cathy) Logue Cohen; two sons, Dean (Jenny) and Scott Cohen; three daughters, Denise (James) Buchanan, Darlene Cohen and Michelle (Patrick) Williams; four granddaughters, Megan (Joshua) Shreves, Aimee (fiancé Justin) Buchanan, Cheyenne Cohen and Ashley Williams; and by Jodi Holder-Turbin, mother of grandson Scott Cohen, II; and a great-grandson Everett Cohen. He is further survived by a brother, Gerald (Martha) Cohen and five sisters, Lois, Shirley, Joan, Maxine and Linda and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 602 West Tenth Street, Erie on Tuesday from 4 until the time of service there at 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
