Robert D. Cochran, age 90, passed away on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at Sarah Reed Senior Living.
He was born in Reynoldsville, PA, on June 1, 1932, the son of the late Raymond F. and Florence (Siple) Cochran.
In his younger years, Bob was the winner of his community's prettiest baby contest and deemed a very sociable child. He acted in class plays in senior high school and was assistant manager of the football team his sophomore year. After graduation from Reynoldsville High School, Bob served in the U.S. Army in the Philippines during the Korean War being promoted to Corporal in July of 1953 and later to Sergeant with U.S. Army Intelligence. Upon his return home, he completed two years at Erie Business Center. Bob was employed for 31.5 years at Meadowbrook Dairy. Bob was a devoted Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers fan as well as the Boston Celtics. He was an avid bowler in three leagues, Thursday Night Merchants, Seniors, and Immanuel Baptist Church in which he served as secretary at various times, being able to use his love for statistics and figures. He was a previous member of the Zukor, South Erie Turners, and Siebenbuerger clubs. He enjoyed playing in softball leagues for Immanuel and Meadowbrook, music, singing to people, and telling good (?) jokes.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Becky Harmon and Pat Herman.
He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Ethel “Sue” (States) Cochran; two daughters, Linda Neenan (husband Dan) and Karen Boyd; four grandchildren, Nathaniel “Jack” LoParo, Amy LoParo, Zachary Boyd and Ross Boyd; two great grandchildren, Joshua Rodgers and Samantha Rodgers; former son-in-law, Robert Boyd; and several nieces and nephews.
