Robert C. Christman, age 92, passed away at Edinboro Manor and formerly of Erie, on Friday, August 7, 2015. He was born August 27, 1922 in Erie a son of the late Nathan and Fontella Alexander Christman.
Based in England during WWII, Bob served as an Airforce mechanic at Bassingbourn Army Aircore Base. He met his wife Dorothy Pamela Sole in Kelshall Hertfordshire, England, where they were married on September 30, 1944. After the war, they lived in Erie, PA where they raised their daughters and he was employed by Zurn as a draftsman. He retired from there in 1984, and had many years traveling and working on his three loves - boats, trains and planes. He designed and built his own steam engine, and laid track which ran around his home, and was enjoyed by all the neighboring children. The train was donated to the Lakeshore Railroad Museum in North East, PA.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife Dorothy Pamela Sole Christman of 60 years who passed in January 2005, he was also preceded by his sister Nancy Termer and his great grandson Oliver Michael Tower.
Survivors include his two daughters, Barbara A Sherlock and her husband James L., of Edinboro, Susan P. Tower and her husband Gregory D., of Fairview; three grandchildren: Christopher Robert (Stephanie) Tower, Amy Mae (Troy) Townsend, and Erin Alexandra (Timothy) Herr; and his great grandchildren Miles R. Tower, Kylie N. and Kolton D. Townsend.
