Robert W. Campbell (Bob), age 54, of Erie and formerly of Newport, Tennessee, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on August 10, 2016 at his residence. He fought so very hard to live but was released from his suffering and his courageous battle with bone cancer.
He was born in La Plata, MD on June 29, 1962, the son of the late Robert W. and Virginia Lee Campbell. He was raised and educated in the Indian Head, Maryland area, graduating from Lackey High School in the Class of 1980. The early 80’s took him to Florida, then on to Tennessee where he found the place that will get in your blood and stay forever.
Bob was the manager at Save A Lot in Newport, Tennessee working for Houchens Food Group for the last 8 years. In addition, his love of sports brought him to the community where he was a professional high school Basketball referee for the last 20 years. He was an avid sports enthusiast of the “New England Patriots” his entire life.
Bob will be missed by all who shared in his life but remembered fondly as a brother, uncle, nephew, grandson and friend. He was a very beautiful soul that loved his family and friends. His beautiful smile and infectious laugh and that wonderful sense of humor warmed your heart. He forged many lasting, special friendships with his loving and generous heart. He made all who knew him feel very special. He was deeply loved by many and will be sadly missed by all whose paths he crossed. His kindness was just not to humans, but to animals that needed love, food, and nurturing.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Danny Campbell in 2006.
He is survived by his sister, Sherrie Kiessling and her husband, Jay who was a life brother; partner; Linda James; nephews Jason and Matthew; great nephew Brock; niece Jax (Logan); Aunt Nancy Carpenter, and a host of cousins; life brother’s Dale Gambrel, and Jim Dinges; many wonderful friends; and Annabelle, his loyal beautiful rescue dog.
